Kreepy Dolls

Kreepy Dolls

Here is a fun project, if you are feeling crafty.

My kids and I like to make dolls out of their drawings.

We got the idea from a Pittsburgh artist named Daniel Baxter, who makes hundreds of handmade dolls each year in his Kreepy Doll Factory.  Each creature is different and strange in its own way.  We love them.

Just a few of the magical creatures from the KDF.

When we make our own kreepy dolls, we start by making a drawing.

The kids draw on paper or draw directly on fabric.

Then we have fun choosing the fabrics and notions and sewing them together.  When they were younger, I did most of the sewing, but each year they've been able to help a little more.  Soon they'll be making kreepy dolls all by themselves.

Who's got two thumbs and is proud of her kids?  This gal.
