Quick Rainbow Jello
I've been thinking some more about Rainbow Ribbon Jello. It looks really cool, but it has a couple big problems.
Problem #1: The Taste
All the Jello flavors are mixed up together, in one big stack. It's complete chaos. You need yellow and green to make a rainbow, but lemon and lime Jello taste just awful together. It makes the whole thing taste like Palmolive.
Problem #2: The Time Suck
Rainbow Jello takes about 10 hours from start to finish. You could watch an entire season of Game of Thrones in that amount of time! It's just too much time to spend on something that will taste like dish soap.
But Rainbow Jello does look really cool. And kids do love it.
So I've come up with a Rainbow Jello hack. I found this set of stacking plastic containers in the Home Organizing Section.
If you use one container for each color, then it solves the taste problem. Each layer is separate so you can pick and choose the flavors that you like. You can even choose lime Jello , if you are so inclined. To each his own, man.
Stacking your Jello solves the time problem too. You make all six layers at the same time, so it only takes about 15 minutes to prep, and an hour to cool.
I'm partial to Jello Jigglers. This is the firmer kind of Jello that you can eat with your fingers. It's less mess and more fun.
For each layer, you'll need:
- 3 packages of Jello (3 oz each)
- 1 box of Knox Unflavored Geletin (4 envelopes each)
- 4 cups of boiling water.
Mix the Jello with the Knox and dissolve in the 4 cups of boiling water. Chill for 1 hour, and you're done.
In a little over an hour, you have this amazing Jello Rainbow.
Here's to Rainbow Jello! Cheers!
