Who’s ready for a retro snack?
Today’s recipe was inspired by a Portlandia sketch I watched recently. (below)
It’s this great film noir parody called “The Celery Incident”. Steve Buschemi plays Marty, a vegetable marketing man who needs to drum up interest in his favorite vegetable: celery. He needs something new to get people jazzed about celery again. And at one point his wife says, “Well, what about Ants on a Log?” Ants on a Log is a classic 1950’s snack made up of peanut butter stuffed celery sticks with raisins on top. Genius really.
So today I decided to make a low carb version of Ants on a Log.
My Ants on a Snow Covered Log is made from celery that has been filled with cream cheese and topped with pecan halves. It’s a quick but surprisingly tasty low carb snack with only 1g net carb per celery stick. I think this recipe is going to do wonders for celery sales.
It’s gonna knock your socks off.
Low Carb Keto Ants on a Snow Covered Log
This is a low carb take on a classic snack. Very retro.

9 oz celery sticks, cut into 3 inch long sticks
4 oz full fat cream cheese
1/3 cup pecan halves
1. Use a butter knife to spread cream cheese on each piece of celery.
2. Place 2-3 pecans on top of teach celery stick. You’ll need to cut some of the pecans in half in order to fit them on the thinner pieces of celery.
