Ah, cranberry sauce 🥄
What are we to do with you? If you are like me, you have a special spot in your heart for classic straight from the can Jellied Cranberry Sauce. It’s a Thanksgiving must-have. You simply can’t not have Cranberry Sauce. Unheard of.
But it’s so bad for you!
If you look at a can of Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce, you’ll notice that the total amount of carbohydrate is 28 grams per serving. And if that wasn’t bad enough, 24 of those grams are pure sugar. If you are on a Keto diet this is completely unacceptable.
But fear not
Short window for cranberries 🪟
Cranberries are only in season for a very short time. So as soon as they show up in stores around Thanksgiving, I buy a few bags and throw them in the freezer for later. I use them in Orange Cranberry Muffins, Cranberry Jello Salad, and even in a Lemon Drop Cocktail, that I make.
All three are good, but if I had to choose…I’d go with the cocktails. 😉
Sugar-free sweetener 🍚
The cranberries are so sour that you’ll need a good sugar-free sweetener. This recipe calls for Allulose because I’ve found it performs best when boiled. I’ve tried using Swerve, which is an erythritol sweetener, in this recipe, but it tended to crystalize and make the Cranberry Sauce cloudy. And you can use Stevia if you like, but I’ve always found the taste of Stevia to be just awful. Not my thing.
This Keto Cranberry Sauce is so good that you can bring it to Thanksgiving and fool everyone into thinking you used sugar.
But instead of the high carb abomination that comes out of the can, this version has just 1g net carb.
I believe Honey Boo Boo said it best 🍯
“This is the food of the gods.”.

I've never had that sugar replacement. Is it a 1 to 1 replacement for regular sugar? The recipe sounds amazing... I'm definitely making this for Thanksgiving.

You know, the Swerve package says 1:1 but I find it to be sweeter than sugar, so I end up using less of it. I kind of play it by ear for each individual recipe. It's good stuff though. And it's a zero calorie sweetener, so that is awesome.
