This was a really yummy treat for someone who loves the taste of oranges! I substituted the water with Diet Orange Soda to see if it would work and it tasted even more fantastic.
★★★★★
EmilyKrill says
Nice substitution. Thanks for sharing that tip.
Rebecca Armstrong says
This looks awesome! I’m a fan of whipped yogurts! A couple questions…. Where do you get your sugar free jello? And could I use nonfat plain yogurt? Thanks!
EmilyKrill says
Nonfat yogurt is fine. My local grocery store sells Sugar Free Jello, but you can also order it from Amazon.
Cheryl says
I made the orange per the recipe. Just wondering though why mine separated a little? Did I do something wrong? It still tasted good though.
★★★★★
EmilyKrill says
No, nothing wrong. Sometimes the yogurt rises to the top and this causes there to be two layers.
Cat says
Hi, my mom used to make this for us when we were little.
She used jello and cool whip…whipped them together after the jello was set.
I now use yogurt.
It’s yummy!
MaryAnn says
this looks great. I wonder, if you used unflavored gelatin and the kool-aid packets, how much sweetener, you would need, to add?
EmilyKrill says
I’ve never tried this method- you’d have to just tinker with it until it tasted sweet enough.
Joyce Lauenborg says
Can’t wait to try this but wonder if I can substitute unflavored gelatin & something for the fruit flavor since I’m not wanting the artificial sweetener in the sugar free jello. Thanks, Joyce
EmilyKrill says
That sounds doable, but I don’t know what the measurements would be. You’d need to play around with it.
Madison says
I have made jello with unflavored gelatin and kool aid packets and sweetener of choice.
Pat St. John says
This is a great recipe/ desert for diabetics as well!
EmilyKrill says
Thanks. I’m a diabetic so I am always on the look out for good desserts.
Linda says
Do you add the ice that hasn’t melted?
EmilyKrill says
Yes, you add the whole 1/2 cup ice water.
EmilyKrill says
Then the boiling water will quickly melt the ice, and the liquid will be cool.
Big Pete says
Uhhhhhhh…ha…Um yeah, I was wondering if you could substitute instant mashed potatoes for the jello and 1 large jar of Hienz Roasted Groundhog Gravy for the Greek yogurt?
EmilyKrill says
Ha, ha, ha. Thanks for the laugh. The funniest substitution I’ve heard was whether or not beef could be replaced with “freshly slaughtered rabbit meat”. (The answer was yes, definitely. Hare it up!)
Joyce says
I’m wondering if I can substitute dairy free yogurt as I cannot do dairy.
★★★★★
EmilyKrill says
I’ve never tried that, but it should work.
Sylvie says
Why would it not work? Elaine will set anything, even water.
EmilyKrill says
Why would what not work? And who is Elaine?
Cathy Krause says
I have made this several times, with one alteration. I found another recipe that didn’t have a cool down time in the fridge, so I tried that. Once the jello is dissolved in the hot (not boiling) water, just add the rest of the water and the yogurt and blend. I use my vitamix which adds a lot of volume, and there is no separation once cooled. I have tried so many different flavors, and even added a few other things like dried orange peel to the orange jello, and have loved everyone.
★★★★★
EmilyKrill says
Yum, orange peel sounds great in this. And I actually did just update my Jello Whip recipes to do a quick set instead of a 30 minute in the fridge cool down. So my new method is to cool the dissolved Jello down with ice water, and then I add it to a blender with the yogurt. I agree, you get a lot more air into the mixture with the blender.
Sandy says
Just made this again with sugar free lemon jello and it is delicious! Hard to decide which I like best, lemon or orange! Both are soooo good. Thank you again for the recipe.

EmilyKrill says
That is so funny, because I was just at the supermarket and I was thinking about doing a lemon Jello whip. I think this is the Universe telling me to make Lemon Jello. There is really no other explanation.
Sandy says
You won’t be disappointed👍
EmilyKrill says
I loved it. For the first 20 minutes I was not fully on board with it, but once I got used to the new actors, I really enjoyed it. And I’ve got a 7 year old, so I am sure to see it many, many times.
Elena says
I am making this right now. Anxious to set how it turns out.
Patricia says
The recipe is one I have made WAY before Keto was such a thing. Glad to see it’s posted for others to use. I’ve only used crèmè fraîche. Good to know the Greek yogurt works well. And now I can’t get that song out of my head. Ugggghhhh!!! :((

EmilyKrill says
Hahaha, apologies for the ear worm. If it makes you feel any better, now I have it stuck in my head all over again.
Fran says
I have made both orange and lemon and they are equally delicious. I’m going to try other flavours. Thank you for this delicious recipe.

EmilyKrill says
Sure thing! I love any red flavor of Jello. I make a lot of raspberry Jello whips.
Kathy says
Has anyone tried this with cream cheese instead of yogurt?
EmilyKrill says
I’ve got a similar recipe that uses cream cheese and heavy whipping cream. https://www.resolutioneats.com/blog/keto-raspberry-jello-mousse
Sandy says
Just made this exactly as your recipe called for and added a dollop of whipped cream on top and it is the perfect hot summer dessert! Easy, and delicious. Thank you for posting the recipe.
★★★★★
EmilyKrill says
Oh yum. Whipped cream on top sounds great. Thanks for the tip!
Gloria says
I made it per the recipe and with orange low fat, sugar free Greek yogurt. Both were good, but the orange yogurt is better in my opinion.
EmilyKrill says
Interesting! I’ve never heard of orange low fat sugar free Greek yogurt before. Was there a difference in the carb count between plain yogurt and the orange yogurt?
Penny says
The recipe calls for plain non-fat Greek yogurt. Why can’t everyone just try that instead of immediately wanting to know if they can substitute it with something else? Sheesh.
EmilyKrill says
Tell it sister! For a two ingredient dessert, there really is a lot of debate.
Wanda Fuca says
So true! If u substitute 1 out of 2 things u have changed the recipe completely. Same people who want to know if they can substitute chocolate for cottage cheese on a diet. Ga’head. Yah. G’head.
Pam says
Seriously! This drives me nuts! 🤨

Great idea! I need to try this. Trying to get my mom to cut back on sugar but she loves her sweets. I think we’d both win with this one:) Thanks for sharing!
EmilyKrill says
Sure thing. Sugar-free Jello is very close to the real thing. You’ll be surprised.
Jennifer Hardy says
Greek yogurt isn’t keto, will this work with sugar free whipping cream?
EmilyKrill says
Jeez Louise.
Greek yogurt is fine to eat in moderation on a Keto diet. But if you want to use heavy whipping cream instead of yogurt then that’s ok too. You dissolve 1 box of Sugar-Free Jello in 1 cup boiling water. Then mix in 3/4 cup cold water and 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream. Put it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours until firm. The Jello will separate into 2 layers though, because cream rises to the top. So you’ll have a creamy layer that is like these Jello whips, but there will be a regular Jello layer below. It will still be delicious, just a little bit different.
Juned says
Can you substitute the yogurt with kool whip? Thanks
EmilyKrill says
Yes, you should be able to use Cool Whip in place of the yogurt. It has both corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup in it though, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you are doing a low carb/ low glycemic diet. But, having said that, the carb count is actually the same for yogurt and Cool Whip, so it’ll be 4g net carbs either way. Let me know how it goes if you try it.
pam stone says
can you substitute sour cream for the yogurt?
EmilyKrill says
Yes. I actually just made it with sour cream because I ran out of yogurt. Still totally yum.
Norma says
On Keto…love this recipe. When iNorma want a little something sweet, I just have quarter cup at a time. Thank you for sharing!!
