My Keto waffles are simply the best. 🏆

These waffles could go head to head with any waffle, any time, any place. They could throw down with IHOP and come out the victor. No question. These low carb waffles are better than those pitiful excuses for waffles because they have just 5g net carbs and a whopping 19 grams of protein. And they taste like a million bucks!

So let me show you how I make this Keto Waffle recipe.

a close up of a sugar free waffle

    🥣 Ingredients

Waffles tend to be nutritional wastelands. Lots of sugar and white flour and not much else. But check out the ingredients in my Keto Waffles:

    • eggs
    • cream cheese
    • baking powder
    • coconut oil or melted butter
    • almond flour

    This is real food, people!

And did I mention that it also makes the World's Greatest Low Carb Pancakes? Well, it does. Best Keto waffles and pancakes ever. Just leave out the oil or melted butter.

    a plate of Carbquik pancakes

    🍯 Sugar-Free Syrup

You've got two schools of thought on this one. You can buy fancy Keto friendly sugar-free maple syrup in specialty stores and on Amazon if you like. Or you can go the low-brow route and buy the sugar-free syrup you can find in the pancake aisle of the supermarket. No judgment.

    3 bottles of sugar-free syrup

    🍓 Waffle toppings

    • strawberries
    • blueberries
    • blackberries
    • raspberries
    • peanut butter
    • almond butter
    • cream cheese
    • sweetened cream cheese
    • whipped cream

    🍳 Waffle sides

    • eggs
    • bacon
    • sausage links
    • sausage patties
    • ham
    • Canadian bacon

    😋 Waffle Add-Ins

    • sugar-free chocolate chips (1 tablespoon)
    • chopped walnuts (1 tablespoon)
    • chopped pecans (1 tablespoon)
    • vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
    • cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
a hand holds a slice of Keto bacon

    🔪 Equipment

You need two appliances: a blender and a waffle iron. The recipe was developed to make one large Belgian waffle, but the batter will make 2-3 regular-sized waffles, depending on how big your waffle iron is. It will also work with mini waffles, for added cuteness.

    🍚 Almond flour

The more almond flour you use, the thicker the waffle. If you are doing strict 20 grams of carbohydrate a day Keto, then you are going to want to stick to 2 TB of almond flour. This waffle will be perfectly adequate but on the thin side. Using 3 TB makes a thicker waffle. And you can make a very thick waffle by using 4 TB of almond flour. The carb count will be from 5-7g net carbs depending on which one you choose.

    📖 Instructions

    1. Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray and pre-heat.
    2. Add all wet ingredients to a blender. Then add all dry ingredients.
    3. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides once, for 30-60 seconds.
    4. Pour the batter into the hot Belgian, regular or mini size waffle iron, and cook according to manufacturer's instructions, usually 3-4 minutes.
    5. To make a double batch, click on the button that says "2X" to the right of the ingredients in the recipe card.  Then cook the batter in two batches.
    6. Storage: Makes a great meal prep low carb breakfast.  Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.  It's best to reheat the Keto waffles in a toaster oven.

I just tried your keto waffle recipe. I am fairly new to keto like almost 3 months in and have tried several keto recipes that I did not like. I hesitantly tried this recipe. I did the 4 tbs. of almond flour but added some vanilla and a little bit of cinnamon. they were delicious but still had a little bit of an egg taste to me. Do you think I could cut down to one egg and it would work? With that being said I loved the waffles otherwise with sf syrup. Thank you for this and me being able to eat almost like a normal person........I saved half for in the morning.....

I’ve never tried it with 1 egg, but someone else wrote in and said that it works. Glad you like the waffles!

In my travels, I’ve realised that if you just use the egg whites (whip them into soft peaks) it removes a lot of the eggy taste and adds to the fluffy texture.

Hi! So I just made these and I love them, but I was a bit confused with the carb count. In the recipe it says 2-4 tablespoons of almond flour. On the nutrition chart you said it was 7 grams of carbs and 2 grams of fibre, which would make one waffle 5 net grams of carbs, but on the bottom commentary below that your notes say that if you add two more tablespoons it would make 7 net carbs. Are you talking about adding two more tablespoons to the 4 existing tbls?

If you use 2 tablespoons almond flour, the waffles will have a total of 5g net carbs. If you use 3 tablespoons of almond flour, you'll have 6g net carbs and if you use a total of 4 tablespoons almond flour, it will have 7g net carbs.

I have been trialing so many waffle recipes and my daughter has not liked them at all. She told me to give up. I said one more trial and than we would give up. She forward your recipe to me. We had to swap the ‘cream cheese” for silken tofu because she is not able to eat real cream cheese nor the vegan cream cheese. I made up your recipe and when I asked how did they turn out , my daughter closed her eyes and purrred . She loves them, they are really are the worlds best!. Thank you!

I have been Keto for 2 years and I have tried SO many waffle recipes. They always cook up soggy - and there is nothing less appetizing than a soft, squishy waffle. Truthfully, I didn't have much hope this time, either, but I plowed ahead as I was really craving a hot, crispy waffle breakfast. I have a Dash mini waffle maker that I just purchased to keep from having to use my large Belgian waffler for just one person. I used 1 egg, about 3 tablespoons almond flour, 1 tablespoon cream cheese I softened slightly in the microwave , 1/2 tablespoon coconut oil and a 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. I mixed all the ingredients together in a small, deep bowl with a silicone spatula - less clean up than a blender for such a little amount. One third of the batter filled my Dash for 1 waffle and the recipe made 3 waffles. These are AMAZING!! They baked up crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and with no eggy taste. I put this recipe in Cronometer and the macros were: 2.85 net carbs, 26.2 fats, 11.7 protein and 302.8 calories. And such a delicious and filling breakfast. I will be making these exclusively!

Made these for the second time in 1 week. Absolutely amazing taste !! Been on low carb over 2 years. Tried other waffle recipes but just didn't taste real …. these are "REAL". I did use only 1 egg, added little cinnamon / vanilla and substituted 2 t Psyllium husk for Coconut flour ( to thicken). Thank you for this recipe !

I am a little bit hesitant to try this recipe due to the proportions of eggs vs almond flour. Based on previous waffles I've tried, they taste VERY eggy to me and I don't like it. Is xanthum gum a possible substitute for one of the eggs?

I used my mini waffle maker....that makes all low carb waffles and waffles better! Just have your oven on low to hold them until they are all cooked. I only used 2 Tbs almond flour for the whole recipe. I ate the whole amount for 4.4 net carbs.
