Buon giorno! 👋
Today I’m going to show you how to make an easy Keto spaghetti sauce that only takes about 17 minutes to whip up. A classically prepared tomato sauce is typically simmered all afternoon, but you can make a very passable sauce in less than 20 minutes.
So this Keto pasta sauce is quite quick.
Let’s talk about how to make it.
🫕 Ingredients
- extra virgin olive oil
- garlic
- shallots or onions
- crushed tomatoes
- salt
- black pepper
- dried basil
- dried oregano
- dried parsley
- red wine vinegar
- Swerve Granular

🍃 Fresh herbs
Now, like I said, the recipe is meant to be speedy quick, so it calls for dried herbs. But if you’d like to add fresh herbs, then I won’t stop you. Just use 1 tablespoon of the fresh herb instead of 1 teaspoon of the dried herb. You can chop up the fresh basil, or just throw the leaves in whole. You’ll need to fuss with taking the leaves off of the oregano stems, but you can chop up the parsley.
🍚 Sweetener
It might surprise you to see the Keto sweetener Swerve on the list of ingredients. But that is actually the secret ingredient (that and love of course). Most tomato sauces use sugar to counteract and balance out the acidity of the tomatoes. We’ll do the same, but we’ll make it sugar-free.
🥩 Adding beef
It’s easy to make a poor man’s Bolognese sauce too. Just saute your onions and garlic in a large skillet instead of a saucepan and then add a pound of ground beef. Brown the ground beef, drain the fat if you like, and continue with the recipe. The Keto tomato sauce works equally well in Keto spaghetti and meatballs.

🍝 The noodles
There is still the small matter of the spaghetti noodles to consider. Normal durum wheat-based pasta is out of the question, but there are a lot of low carb options out there.
The list includes:
- Shirataki noodles
- Edamame noodles
- Homemade egg noodles
- Homemade lupin flour noodles
- Homemade psyllium husk noodles
- Zoodles (zucchini noodles)
- Palmini noodles
- Great Low Carb Bread Co. noodles
- Carba-Nada noodles
- ImPASTAble noodles

This sauce is delicious. However when I input the recipe into my carb calculator (exactly as written), the carbs were actually 5 not 4 and a 1/4 cup is not much. If I try this again, one thing I'd cut back would be the Swerve to 2 teaspoons rather than tablespoons.

Glad you like the sauce. Unfortunately nutritional info can be quite different depending on which brand of food that you choose to track.

I can't believe how good this is even though you don't simmer it for very long. I added in some fresh basil at the end and about a 1/4 cup grated parmesan to thicken it up.

Good idea. I like thickening tomato sauce with parmesan cheese too. Gives it a little extra protein and saltiness.

I tried this sauce on edamame noodles and it was great! I found them at Costco, but I think I've seen them at Aldi sometimes as well. You can probably get them a bunch of places now since low carb is so popular.

Yes, I've bought them at Costco too. Good to have that pasta option there.

I can't belive you can get such a flavorful sauce and not simmer it for at least an hour! I simmered mine for 30 minutes just to be safe, but next time I'll do it your way!

This sauce tasted fantastic. I left out the sweetener and it was still amazing. Will definitely be making it again. Husband loved it too.

That’s great. I love passing the husband test.

I am so impressed by this recipe. I thought to myself that was so quick there is no way it would be very good however, it would be fixable if it wasn't. I tasted it and it was perfect. I can't wait to have it for dinner over ribbon cut zucchini and homemade chicken italian sausage.
Thank you for this recipe. So easy and very quick to make.

Zoodles and sausage sound great with this sauce!
Mella says
How long would the sauce keep in the fridge?
EmilyKrill says
It'll last for 3-4 days in the fridge or 6 months in the freezer.

I'm trying the recipe tomorrow. But I wanted to comment quick to the person looking for noodles. 1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded), 1 egg yolk. Microwave the cheese for one minute. Let sit for one minute. Mix in egg yolk until mixed thoroughly. Place between two sheets of parchment paper and roll to 1/8" thick. Use pizza cutter for desired width. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours (or overnight is better). Boil in UNsalted water for 40-60 seconds when ready to use. My husband (very picky eater) LOVES them! Has the texture, taste, etc of noodles. He was thrilled after 5 months of Keto hell to have them. Has been asking for them since. Super easy to make. The worst part is them taking up room in the refrigerator during their resting time. Good luck!!!!

Thanks!

WOW! Great flavor with minimum of ingredients. My husband was overwhelmed, and he doesn't even really like red sauce.

That's great! Thanks for letting me know.

Peut on rajouter de la viande hachée à cette sauce ?
EmilyKrill says
Sure, you can add minced meat to the sauce. If you are using ground beef, brown it along with the garlic and onions.
