The secret to this salad is mozzarella di buffala, better known as buffalo mozzarella cheese. It’s a very soft Italian cheese made from the milk of water buffalos. (Try to put that fact out of your mind. Trust me, it’s fabulous.)

💬 Is this a Caprese salad?
Well, you might call it a poor man’s Caprese salad. Classic Caprese salads have fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and a balsamic reduction. But this is not for us. Not today with the fussy balsamic reduction. No, this buffalo mozzarella salad has just four ingredients.
