Greetings Jello lovers 👋
Today's retro Jello recipe comes to us from the venerated Joys of Jell-O cookbook.
The idea is to create a light and airy Jello fluff salad using just Sugar-Free Jello and whipped cream. ⛅
You've got 2 options 🤔
You can use a store-bought tub of Cool Whip if you want to save time. All you need is a package of Sugar-Free Jello and a tub of Cool Whip. The downside of this recipe is that the net carb count is 12g per serving.
This brings us to method number 2. You can make your own sugar-free whipped cream and it lowers the net carb count down to 1g.
That’s more like it!
Ingredients 🥣
- Sugar-Free Jello, any flavor
- boiling water
- ice water
- heavy whipping cream
- Swerve Confectioners
Sugar-Free Jello Flavors 🌈
You can use any flavor of Jello that you like in your jello whips. The four brands that make sugar-free Jello are Jello-O obviously, Royal, GramZero, and a scrappy little candy brand you might have heard of: Starburst. Usually, the only brands that you can buy in the supermarket are Jell-O and Royal, but you can find the other two on Amazon.
- Jell-O Brand Flavors: Cherry, Black Cherry, Lime, Lemon, Strawberry, Peach, Raspberry, and Orange
- Royal Brand Flavors: Strawberry, Lime, Orange, Cherry, Raspberry
- Starburst Brand Flavors: All Pink Strawberry, Blue Raspberry, Cherry
- GramZero Brand Flavors: Raspberry, Strawberry, Cherry, Lemon, Lime, Orange
Naturally Sweetened Jello 🍚
Now I know that some of you are concerned about the artificial sweeteners in Jello. (I post a lot of Sugar-Free Jello recipes, so I hear about this on the daily.). But there is a naturally sweetened brand of gelatin that you can use. It's the GramZero brand that I mentioned. Just skip the part where you quick set the Jello with ice cubes.
It is sweetened with Stevia, so you've got no worries. 😇.
Where to Buy Sugar-Free Jello 💰
Instructions 🧾
- In a medium-size bowl, stir Jello powder into boiling water and keep stirring until it is completely dissolved.
- Fill a 1 cup measure with ice. Fill the remaining space in the measure with water to make 1 cup of ice water. If using GramZero brand jello, don't use ice water, just the same amount of cold water.
- Stir the ice water into the Jello and keep stirring until cooled and the ice cubes are mostly melted. Remove any unmelted ice cubes. The Jello will soft set while you do the next step.
- In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to whip together sweetener and heavy whipping cream. Whip until stiff peaks form.
- Use the electric mixer to whip the soft set Jello into the whipped cream. Mix until fully combined.
- Pour the Jello whip mixture into 4 custard cups or 1 medium-sized bowl and refrigerate for 2 hours.
And voilà! 👩🍳
This is one of those easy recipes that seem too good to be true. But you really can “whip up” a rather decadent treat for yourself in less than 10 minutes. It’s a creamy, fluffy, fruity delight.
A true Joy of Jello.🥰

I used to make 3 layer jello that came in a box and after your stirred it and let it set, it would magically make 3 layers. I have never been able to find it again. That was probably 30 years ago. This recipe looks like one of the layers. I may have to try it.

I make treats to share at my husband's workplace a few times a week. Out of 10 men, 1 is on a Keto diet, and he always gives in and eats what I bring.
This was the perfect treat! I didn't follow it exactly, and all the guys enjoyed it, especially the dieter. He was really surprised to hear that it has only 1 carb.
Since we aren't all watching our diets, I think I'll offer Graham crackers, nilla wafers and fruit a stir ins.

What a nice idea to make a snack that they all could enjoy. Thanks for making my day with this story!

I haven’t tried it yet but will make it today. I will use the zero sugar cool whip it only has 3 carbs. So that made it 4 carbs total.

That's a good plan. Let me know how it turns out.

Thank you for such a tasty dessert! I used the Simply Delish sugar free jello (made with erythritol and stevia), and the Silk Dairy Free whipping cream since I am (cow) dairy intolerant. I've tried most of the flavours and so far peach is my favourite but I'm eager to try the lime, which I have a box of in the pantry.
Such a simple, comforting yet delicious treat that takes 5 minutes max to prepare.

Thanks! Glad to know that Simply Delish works for this recipe.

Mine never really soft set after I combined the jello/boiling water and ice water mix, but I soldiered on and whisked in a tub of keto whipped topping (TruWhip). After chilling, the top was like strawberry whipped cream, and the closer I got to the bottom, the more dense and "jelloish" it became. My housemate said it was "like those Midwestern jello fruit salads without the fruit." Simple and tasty in any case.
Emily Krill says
Oh yum, I've never heard of TruWhip before. Thanks for the tip!

Sure thing!

Instead of whipping cream could I use almond milk?
Emily Krill says
No, that wouldn't whip up properly.

Thank you I just made this for a special treat tonight. I did get a different calorie count though. Only17.2 and .25 carbs each. The only powdered sugar I have is erythritol, so that could make the difference. Still the flavor & texture is great.

This was so delicious!! I’m going to try it with orange jello next for kind of a creamsicle vibe!

Yum. Try adding a little vanilla if you want a nice dreamsicle flavor.

I just made this and I will definitely make it again. The texture is very much like the whipped yogurt but this is a Much better alternative for me since I’m following a low carb low sugar diet.
