This recipe for low carb and Keto copy cat Campbell’s Tomato Soup is the ultimate comfort food, but with only 86 calories and 4g net carbs.

Hello, healthy soup lovers.
Today I’ve got a Keto tomato soup recipe to share with you. It’s a copy cat version of the classic Campbell’s Condensed Tomato Soup. My Keto version is pretty darn close to the original, if I do say so myself.

But before we get to the recipe, I’ve got a bone to pick with the Campbell’s Tomato Soup advertisements.
Growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, the Campbell’s Soup catchphrase was “Soup is Good Food”. But I ask you, was “good” really the best thing they could say about their soup? Was it the best soup or even a great soup? No, it was just good soup. I truly don’t get it. But let’s move on.

The Keto tomato soup that we’re making today is better than good, it’s great.
It’s made from fresh tomatoes, onions, tomato paste, vegetable broth, sugar-free sweetener and heavy whipping cream. And even with all those tomatoes, it’s still only got 4g net carbs per cup. Compare that to Campbell’s Tomato Soup which has 52g. No contest there.

These simple ingredients make the soup Low Carb, Keto, Vegetarian and Low Calorie.
But how low in calories? How does 86 calories sound to you? Campbells Tomato Soup has 329 calories and our low carb tomato soup has just 86. Because you know what?
Keto Tomato Soup is Good Food.

This Keto Tomato Soup would go great with my Farmer’s Yeast Bread, Ciabatta, or Yeast Bread Rolls.

Why did you add sweetener to soup?
EmilyKrill says
I added sweetener because Campbell’s Tomato Soup is very sweet. It is also to counteract the acidity of the tomatoes. It’s fine to skip it, but it does balance the flavor of the tomato soup.

Thank you for creating this recipe! So looking forward to trying this with keto grilled cheese sandwich! Just wondering if this soup be frozen so I can use in some adapted recipes in future?
★★★★★
EmilyKrill says
Yes, freezing it should be fine.
Marie says
What kind of tomatoes do you use?
EmilyKrill says
Any kind of tomato will work, except for cherry sized.
Debbie says
Made this today, makes 6 huge servings of soup, and you are right, it tastes better than the canned version with milk. Very creamy and tasty. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Sure thing! Thanks.

I’ve made this twice now. Living in North Dakota, tomatoes aren’t always great in the off seasons here. So I just use two cans of organic diced tomatoes. (I usually double the recipe too) I do tend to add only 4T of the swerve bc canned tomatoes seem to have a lot of sweetness too! I like to top it with basil and eat all night! Lol thank you for this

Ha, thanks for the stars!

Sure thing! It is a sweet soup, but the original Campbell’s version is really quite sweet too.

I recently started keto and it was looking for a comfort inn tomato soup recipe so I was excited when I came across this one. It definitely is a lot more work than opening a can of Campbell’s but I know that the end product is way better for me which makes it entirely worth it! I do prefer a creamier tomato soup so I doubled the heavy whipping cream. Additionally I added a tablespoon of butter at the end for a little more richness (I used to dunk buttered crackers into my tomato soup and always enjoyed the buttery flavor that they left behind). It was a pretty good substitute although next time I think I will add a little bit of garlic powder and see if that rounds out the flavor a little bit more. Thanks 😊

Sure thing.

Starred just for the Ren and Stimpy reference. Loved the soup and will definitely make again this winter.

If there is a chance to reference the Log song, I take it. Thanks for noticing!
Ann says
Easy to make. I only used 2 tbsp on sweetner and it was way to sweet. Ended of adding more stuff to it. I will make again, but add sweetner at the end, if at all.

Love, love this soup. I have made many times, and I do so as posted. I never add or delete anything. I love so much that I could eat everyday, but I won’t. I make homemade croutons to go with this soup, yum, yum. Thanks so much for this wonderful recipe.
EmilyKrill says
Thank you for making my day!

Super simple and tasty. I added red bell peper and celery to augment the onions. A can of fire roasted (low salt if you can find them) added just before serving would put this soup over the top! (I do this with canned tomato soup just to add some texture.)

EmilyKrill says
That sounds wonderful! Thanks for the tip.
Diane Andersen says
Do you peel the tomatoes or leave the skin on?
EmilyKrill says
You leave the skins on. I’m make a note of that on the recipe. Thanks for the question.
Christine says
In the dead of winter in Michigan. No good tomatoes here. How would this work with home canned Romas? How many do you think it would take?
EmilyKrill says
I hear you. I think that canned Romas should be fine in this recipe. One pound tomatoes works out to about 3 cups puréed tomatoes. So just eyeball 3 cups of the Romas and I think you’ll be good.
Lisa Bynum says
I’m willing to bet your homemade soup tastes a TON better than anything you could get from a can.

That touch of heavy cream at the end is just the right finish on this delectable soup! Way better than Campbell’s!

EmilyKrill says
That is so nice of you to say. It really does add a nice creaminess to the soup.
