My Keto waffles are simply the best. 🏆

These waffles could go head to head with any waffle, any time, any place. They could throw down with IHOP and come out the victor. No question. These low carb waffles are better than those pitiful excuses for waffles because they have just 5g net carbs and a whopping 19 grams of protein. And they taste like a million bucks!

So let me show you how I make this Keto Waffle recipe.

a close up of a sugar free waffle

    🥣 Ingredients

Waffles tend to be nutritional wastelands. Lots of sugar and white flour and not much else. But check out the ingredients in my Keto Waffles:

    • eggs
    • cream cheese
    • baking powder
    • coconut oil or melted butter
    • almond flour

    This is real food, people!

And did I mention that it also makes the World's Greatest Low Carb Pancakes? Well, it does. Best Keto waffles and pancakes ever. Just leave out the oil or melted butter.

    a plate of Carbquik pancakes

    🍯 Sugar-Free Syrup

You've got two schools of thought on this one. You can buy fancy Keto friendly sugar-free maple syrup in specialty stores and on Amazon if you like. Or you can go the low-brow route and buy the sugar-free syrup you can find in the pancake aisle of the supermarket. No judgment.

    3 bottles of sugar-free syrup

    🍓 Waffle toppings

    • strawberries
    • blueberries
    • blackberries
    • raspberries
    • peanut butter
    • almond butter
    • cream cheese
    • sweetened cream cheese
    • whipped cream

    🍳 Waffle sides

    • eggs
    • bacon
    • sausage links
    • sausage patties
    • ham
    • Canadian bacon

    😋 Waffle Add-Ins

    • sugar-free chocolate chips (1 tablespoon)
    • chopped walnuts (1 tablespoon)
    • chopped pecans (1 tablespoon)
    • vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
    • cinnamon (1 teaspoon)
a hand holds a slice of Keto bacon

    🔪 Equipment

You need two appliances: a blender and a waffle iron. The recipe was developed to make one large Belgian waffle, but the batter will make 2-3 regular-sized waffles, depending on how big your waffle iron is. It will also work with mini waffles, for added cuteness.

    🍚 Almond flour

The more almond flour you use, the thicker the waffle. If you are doing strict 20 grams of carbohydrate a day Keto, then you are going to want to stick to 2 TB of almond flour. This waffle will be perfectly adequate but on the thin side. Using 3 TB makes a thicker waffle. And you can make a very thick waffle by using 4 TB of almond flour. The carb count will be from 5-7g net carbs depending on which one you choose.

    📖 Instructions

    1. Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray and pre-heat.
    2. Add all wet ingredients to a blender. Then add all dry ingredients.
    3. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides once, for 30-60 seconds.
    4. Pour the batter into the hot Belgian, regular or mini size waffle iron, and cook according to manufacturer's instructions, usually 3-4 minutes.
    5. To make a double batch, click on the button that says "2X" to the right of the ingredients in the recipe card.  Then cook the batter in two batches.
    6. Storage: Makes a great meal prep low carb breakfast.  Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.  It's best to reheat the Keto waffles in a toaster oven.

Amazing!!! I had didn't have high hopes for this recipe, but it was simple the straightforward ingredients and instructions that peaked my interest. WOW WOW WOW!! I followed to the letter using 4Tbsp of Almond flour and 1Tbsp butter, and the recipe gave me 4 waffles! Perfect for breakfast, but I have been using them for sandwiches!! Today was a big batch day, so now I have enough made for 8 servings of 2 waffles. I also tried using a garlic and herb spreadable cream cheese, and they turned out great!!!! This will be a weekly make, they are fantastic!! I love that they have simple ingredients because I live on a small tropical island and things like monk fruit, erythritol, and phylum husk... just do not exist here!! Thank you again for this!!

Yay! Waffles for the win. You might want to look at your local store for Sugar-Free Pancake Syrup. It's not a specialty item where I live, so you might be able to find it next to the regular pancake syrups. Thanks so much for your nice note. You made my day.

Made this recipe today for my kiddos and they loved it! I kinda eye balled the ingredients so I know I used more than I should’ve but here’s what I did; 3/4 cup of almond flour, 2-3 oz cream cheese, 1 tbsp coconut oil, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 2 xtra large eggs beat with mixer and pour to un-greased mini waffle maker! Made 7 of them!!! Soooooo good and saving this recipe for Saturday mornings! Thank you

perfect waffles, exceptionally easy to make - without the need of whisking egg whites!
there is no need for me to try another/new recipe for gf/keto waffles...these are really nice, they took 6-7 min in my waffle maker and after removing them out they dried on the surface - got crunchy - and became even more crispy and really fluffy inside,
      thank you for the recipe

Do you know of anything nondairy that might be able to successfully replace the cream cheese? We aren't able to consume dairy. Thanks!

No, I'm sorry but this recipe needs the cream cheese to work. But you should check out a product called Carbquik. It's like a low carb Bisquick so it's great for waffles and pancakes. You can buy it on Amazon here:

You can substitute cream cheese in most recipes with Kite Hill almond based cream cheese spread. It works like a charm in most applications. They also make a plain yogurt that can be subbed for any yogurt or sour cream required in recipes. Kroger stores (many chains fall under the Kroger umbrella) carry it, as do all health food stores.

Thanks for that tip. I keep hearing about low carb things you can buy at Kroger. There is one about 10 miles away from me but I've never been there. Are there any other low carb Kroger finds I should look for?

They often have their house brand of cream cheese on sale for 99 cents. I stock up when they have that. I also stock up on their CarbMaster Yogurt, which is sweetened with Sucralose, and usually marked at 50 cents each. It's a little overly sweet, and low fat, so I solve both of those issues by adding 1T heavy cream to a serving. They carry some Torani SF syrups, if you need any. Boar's Head meats from their deli are always gluten free, with minimal stuff added in, and good quality. My favorite deli meats! Aidells Chicken & Turkey Meatballs with Sundried Tomatoes, which I don't find anywhere else. La Choy Soy Sauce (GF), hard to find around here. They have a big selection of flavored waters, both sparkling and still. Louanna Coconut Oil in a good size tub (not so big it won't fit in my baking cupboard, as I find at Costco) - refined, so no coconut taste. NutPods Non Dairy Creamer, unsweetened -- my fave is Vanilla. These should be on the shelf with boxed milks. My "dirty Keto" splurge is Protein Almonds from Optimum Nutrition, in the aisle with protein drinks. They have maltitol, but I only eat 3 at a time -- so delicious! If you like those old timey potted meats, they are the only store I know that carris it in Corned Beef (everyone else has only ham and chicken). It's great on low carb crackers. I find their produce only so-so, and don't buy much of it there. They often have some sauces, dressings, condiments that I don't find in other stores. It's worth taking time to explore.

These are the best waffles. I’m new to Keto diet and was afraid it would be another cardboard recipe. ( still getting used to cooking with almond flour).
I like these better than my non-Keto waffles.

These were good, but mine came out dry when using coconut oil. Next time I'll try butter.
Also, it only filled my square waffle iron about 3/4, so I'll make half again as much next time.
